FAQ
1) How long does the teeth whitening last?
- Teeth whitening is not permanent but on average lasts 6-8 months for non-smokers and 3-6 months for smokers. Oral hygiene and habits will affect longevity.
2) How often can I have the whitening done?
- If desired results are reached, you can have another treatment done in 4-6 months if needed. If two sessions are needed, they can be done 1-3 weeks apart without any harm and a repeat session can be done 4-6months later if needed. In between touch-ups (30 minutes) can be done if needed 2-4 months after.
3) How many sessions will I need?
- Usually, 1 full session is enough to reach desired results, however, if the client has heavy staining or "stubborn teeth" than another session may be required.
4) Will my teeth be sensitive after?
- Sensitivity is possible, but rare. Generally, before the whitening session, we recommend you to use a sensitivity toothpaste for 1-2weeks prior to the appointment and for another 1-2 weeks following the appointment. Close monitoring will be done throughout your treatment to address any sensitivity during the treatment.
5) I have fillings/ crowns/ veneers, will these whiten?
- No, since the fillings/ crowns/ veneers are made with a composite/ porcelain material, they will not whiten.
6) Does insurance cover this treatment?
- Typically, insurance companies will not cover teeth whitening treatments as they are considered a cosmetic procedure, however, some insurance companies provide a "health spending account" which can often be used to pay for the whitening.
7) How many shades will my teeth lighten?
-On average 4-12 shades can be expected, however results will vary client to client and can not be guaranteed.
